Dead By Daylight celebrates 10th anniversary with major overhaul, Scooby-Doo crossover and more

Dead By Daylight is arguably one of the most popular horror games of all time, with the asymmetrical multiplayer title attracting over 60 million players since its initial release back in 2016. Celebrating the game’s 10th anniversary, the team at Behaviour Interactive have detailed a ton of changes and additions coming over the course of the next year – including major visual overhauls; gameplay additions and a bunch of surprise crossovers.

In celebration of Dead By Daylight’s 10th anniversary, the team at Behaviour Interactive hosted a stream in which they announced loads of exciting changes and additions coming to the popular multiplayer title over the coming year.

As part of DBD’s Year 11 roadmap, the studio confirmed that they will be expanding on a number of their past crossovers, revealing that The Walking Dead’s Glenn and Negan will be added as cosmetic variants for their Rick Grimes survivor, with Silent Hill also seeing new representation in the form of Shimizu Hinako and the Bubble Head Nurse from Silent Hill f (again, both as cosmetic variants).

In terms of new collabs, Dead By Daylight is set to receive a crossover with Diablo IV this October alongside “one of the community’s most requested collaborations” a Scooby-Doo crossover later this year – though potentially only as cosmetic variants. One collab which will definitely introduce a new playable character however is with Damien Leone’s ‘Terrifier’.

Gameplay-wise, Dead By Daylight is also seeing plenty of additions, including a dynamic weather system, new events, modifiers, maps and more.

Perhaps the biggest change coming is in its visuals, with Behaviour Interactive giving fans an early look at their plans for 2027 which includes “upgraded character models, more expressive facial animations, enhanced environments […] improved audio, voice lines for all original characters, and a deeper Entity presence.”

These additions are all said to be in service of ensuring that Dead By Daylight can remain active for the next 10 years, “doubling down on evolving its current foundation” instead of moving on to a sequel.

As mentioned, Dead By Daylight is one of the biggest horror games around, and so it is exciting to see the team continuing to introduce major and sweeping changes / additions over a decade on from its initial launch. Full details on their planned roadmap can be found HERE.
