While the Assassin’s Creed franchise is in a bit of a weird spot at the moment, most fans agree that the upcoming Black Flag Remake represents a silver lining for the series – improving what needed to be improved while keeping the game’s core identity the same as it was back in 2013. Ahead of its impending launch in just under 3 weeks time, Ubisoft has now confirmed that AC: Black Flag Resynced has officially ‘Gone Gold’.
Taking to Instagram to make the announcement, the official AC page confirmed that Black Flag Resynced has now gone gold, writing: “In a world GONE GOLD, we're gonna be heroes! July 9th is fast approaching, who's ready to set sail?”
For the uninitiated, going gold does not mean that the Black Flag team have uncovered a chest of buried treasure. Instead, it represents the fact that the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced master disc has been submitted to Ubisoft.
These discs can then be pressed with finalised software and digital storefronts can upload the 1.0 version of the game ready for release. It’s a process that every game goes through, and means that – aside from post-launch patches and updates – Black Flag Resynced should be complete and ready to play.
Of course, Black Flag Resynced marks the first Assassin’s Creed game to be fully remade, with other entries seeing more simple remasters or basic resolution / framerate bumps. As such, the game has a lot to prove.
So far however, fans appear to be receptive toward the project, and so hopefully it proves to be a critical hit when the remake officially launches on the 9th of July.
