Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is getting a demo next month

Following the successful release of their Castlevania-themed crossover with Dead Cells back in 2023, studio Evil Empire is once again partnering with Konami – this time working on a full-blown brand new Castlevania game. Set to officially launch on the 15th of October, those wanting to check the game out ahead of time will be able to do so; as a demo for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse has now been announced to arrive in just over a week’s time.

Taking to their official site to make the announcement, Konami confirmed that Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will be receiving a free demo on the 1st of October. Said to be “featuring the opening chapter of the game,” the demo will be available across all platforms (Steam, PS5, Series X|S and Switch 1) and will include a save file transfer option upon the arrival of its full release on the 15th.

Belmont’s Curse marks the first new entry in the Castlevania series in over a decade – and the first side-scrolling release in almost two (with the last being 2008’s ‘Order of Ecclesia’).

In the decades since the series went dark, we’ve seen countless excellent metroidvanias come onto the scene, including Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight, and of course, Motion Twin / Evil Empire’s own Dead Cells.

Given this, it will be interesting to see whether Belmont’s Curse will be able to match the highs of its previous Castlevania brethren – and whether it will fall short of its latter inspirations.

Fortunately, for those who remain reserved, you will be able to try before you buy, with the demo officially arriving in just under a week and a half.
