Julian Assange to run for Australian Senate

WikiLeaks' founder and leader, Julian Assange, is reportedly planning to run for a seat in the Australian Senate next year. However Assange is currently being held in England on bail ahead of a possible extradition to Sweden over allegations that he sexually assaulted two women.

Julian Assange plans to run for Australian Senate sometime next year

“We have discovered that it is possible for Julian Assange to run for the Australian Senate while detained,” and as such “Julian has decided to run,” for a place in a Labor seat.

“The name of the Labor candidate and the state Julian will run for will be announced at the appropriate time.” This mean he will be running against current Prime Minister Julia Gillard, although it is somewhat doubtful he will be aiming as high as leader of the Labor party.

Kitguru says: If I wasn't living in Australia's unofficial 8th state, I would vote for you Mr Assange.
