Lenovo announce budget Miix Win8 tablet

Lenovo have unveiled their new Windows 8 10.1 inch hybrid machine which they are called the Miix. This ‘multi mode' system can be docked with an optional folio case with an included AccuType keyboard, so it can be used like an Ultrabook. The retail price is said to be around the $500 mark.

The system won't be suited to demanding tasks, featuring a Clover Trail Atom processor (Z2760 dual core) however they do claim a life span of 10 hours between charges which is quite promising.

The 10.1 inch screen has a resolution of 1366 x 768 and the IPS panel can support up to five simultaneous touch points. In its naked form it weighs 580g and measures 265 mm x 173 mm x 10.1 mm. Inside is 2GB of DDR2 memory and 64 gb of eMMC storage with a microSD card for expansion duties.

It has wireless support with 802.11b/g/n capabilities and BlueTooth 4.0 with 3G-GPS (on a few models). Lenovo have seen it important to fit a mini HDMI port for connecting up to an external panel. The video they sent out also shows a SIM card slot which will be useful.

Stereo speakers and a 1 Megapixel camera round out the specifications.
