Intel Storybook tablet to launch for emerging markets

Intel are planning to release a new tablet for emerging markets, the codename is ‘StoryBook'. The product is set to follow in the footsteps of the Classmate PC sales model. I spoke to an industry insider this morning in Taipei who confirmed that the StoryBook tablet PC will house a 10 inch screen and will be based around the Intel Medfield platform. The product will be targeting Brazil and China.

The StoryBook PC tablet is due for release in 2012 – we hear around October at this time. The product may be pushed into regular retail channels shortly afterward under the $299 price point.

ECS are said to be involved in the production for Intel, they are also involved in the ClassMate PC product so it makes sense for Intel to hold the partnership for this upcoming model.
