European retailer selling RTX 50 GPUs with missing ROPs as B-stock

Since launch, a few RTX 50 series graphics cards have been found with defective GPUs. In these cases, the GPUs are missing ROPs, leading to lower than advertised performance. Now, one European retailer has listed several of these defective GPUs for sale as ‘B stock'.

As noted by VideoCardz, a Zotac RTX 5090 Solid OC card was listed (sold or removed) for a hefty €2,899, which seems exorbitant considering that it is the same price as the same GPU with all of its ROPs intact. The retailer, Alternate, also has other Zotac RTX 5090 cards listed as “B-stock”, with slightly damaged packaging, at the same price point and supposedly with all ROPs.

Unlike purchasing a fully functional RTX 5090, consumers buying these specific cards won't be able to return them for an exchange to receive a card with the full 176 ROPs. However, standard EU consumer protection laws will still apply, allowing for returns within a specified period, regardless of the stated policy.

Independent testing has shown that the ROP deficiency can lead to performance drops of up to 11% in certain games, a significant drawback for a high-end GPU. It's worth remembering that this issue has impacted not only RTX 5090 stock, but RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti models as well.
