New software reportedly removes the hash rate limiter on Nvidia RTX LHR GPUs

With graphics cards pricing coming down and the end of Ethereum mining on the horizon, many are expecting graphics cards to become affordable once again. Unfortunately, there may be a set back, as a new software can reportedly completely remove the mining hash rate limiter on Nvidia RTX LHR GPUs.

The new software developed by Sergey (via VideoCardz) consists of a tool that replaces the graphics card's BIOS with a new one on RTX 30 and workstation RTX models with LHR. Although the software hasn't been tested yet, Sergey claims the LHR v2 Unlocker can unlock the full mining performance of any LHR card.

LHR v2 Unlocker introduces modifications extracted from BIOSes used by mining OSes on the desired graphics card and a graphics driver modified by the developer. Then, the software flashes and does a backup of the BIOS so you can reverse it at a later date if you need it. The supported RTX models and unlocked performance targets are as follows:

  • RTX 3060 LHR V2 – up to 49 MH/s
  • RTX 3060 Ti LHR – up to 61 MH/s
  • RTX 3070 LHR – up to 57 MH/s
  • RTX 3070 Ti – up to 69 MH/s
  • RTX 3080 LHR – up to 100 MH/s
  • RTX 3080 Ti – up to 115 MH/s
  • RTX A2000 – up to 46 MH/s
  • RTX A4000 – up to 67 MH/s
  • RTX A4500 – not measured
  • RTX A5000 – up to 110 MH/s

The Nvidia LHR v2 Unlocker will be available publicly in beta form later this week. Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru says: Ethereum is moving away from GPU-reliant mining to a new system sometime this year. With that in mind, even with this tool available, we should still see GPU prices trending downwards this year.
