Nvidia is updating the RTX 4070, 4060 Ti and 4060 with new Ada GPUs

About a year after launching a new series, Nvidia typically releases new SKUs based on non-standard GPUs. These GPUs have deactivated cores that would otherwise go unused, and instead of discarding them, the company reduces the specifications to match lower-end devices. This means a card like RTX 4070 may have a bigger AD103 GPU, which are usually reserved for RTX 4080 cards.

According to MEGAsizeGPU, Nvidia will soon introduce new versions of RTX 4070, RTX 4060 Ti, and RTX 4060 graphics cards. The newer RTX 4070 would feature an AD103 GPU (AD103-175-KX) and the PG141 SKU370 PCB. As for the RTX 4060 series, the new RTX 4060 Ti will reportedly come with an AD104 GPU (AD104-150-KX) and the PG141 SKU359 PCB, while the RTX 4060 would have an AD106 GPU (AD106-255) and the PG173 SKU368 PCB.

These GPUs are already referenced in the most recent official drivers, which means they could be released at any moment. However, MEGAsizeGPU predicts that at least two models won't be available until April. In any case, the release of these new SKUs won't receive any official announcement and will probably go unnoticed by most users, as while the GPUs at the centre of the cards may be different, they've been configured to match the original specs for each graphics card.

If you encounter these devices, don't be surprised if they use a GPU that is different from what Nvidia has officially stated. However, remember that these non-standard SKUs are often only available in select locations.

KitGuru says: These graphics cards should perform roughly the same regardless of whether they feature a different GPU. So, in the end, the GPU used in the card shouldn't affect your decision.
