Nvidia readying new AD104 GPUs, RTX 4070 incoming?

Nvidia AD104-based graphics cards are already available with the release of the RTX 4070 Ti, but it seems there are a couple more coming in just a few months. It hasn't been confirmed which exactly SKUs these are, but the most likely scenario is that we're talking about RTX 4070 and the RTX 4060 Ti.

The Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti released a few days ago is currently the only graphics card powered by an AD104 GPU (AD104-400-A1). However, according to Wccftech, two new cards are coming out soon that will be using that same GPU, albeit a different variant. These upcoming cards will be using the AD104-250 and the AD104-251 GPUs.

The AD104-250-based graphics card is presumably the RTX 4070 and will use the PG14 SKU 343 PCB. As for the AD104-251-based card, this is likely the RTX 4060 Ti and should use the PG141 SKU 345 PCB. The production of the former is reportedly starting in the second half if February, while the latter should be in March. Moreover, the report claims both cards have a 200W TDP.

The rumoured specifications for the RTX 4070 have already claimed the card would have a 250W TDP, so one of the two (or both) must be wrong. The remaining rumoured specifications point to it as using an AD104-250 GPU with 5,888 CUDA cores and 12GB GDDR6X memory running at 21Gbps, so at least there's some coherence between this and the older reports. Unfortunately, we still don't know much about the RTX 4060 Ti specs, but early reports suggested the card would pack an AD106 GPU, which also clashes with the latest rumour. Whether the card will use an AD104, an AD106 GPU, or something else, we don't know for sure… yet!

KitGuru says: Although Nvidia hasn't shared anything about the mid-range RTX 40 series desktop cards, it shouldn't take long, given the latest reports. If you're looking for one of these to upgrade your system or build a new one, it might be worth paying attention to the news in the coming weeks.
