Foxconn damage control: raise pay by 30%

We reported recently on the suicides at the Foxconn factory in the far East, which attracted a lot of attention. In a very public move, Foxconn have decided to raise pay at the factories by 30 percent which is set to cost them millions in extra wages.

Staff at the Foxconn factory have to work 34 hour shifts, which they can follow up with a ten hour break before heading back for another 12 hour call of duty. This seems pretty excessive, even for us work crazy tech testers. This salary increase is immediately effective and we are confident that this will certainly ease the pain for the rest of the work force. Seriously though 34 hour work shifts?

KitGuru: Foxconns attempt at damage control would surely have been better met with reduced work hours and more staff?
