Samsung’s new 9100 Pro PCIe 5.0 SSD boasts a whopping 8TB of storage

Samsung has recently announced its new consumer flagship 9100 Pro series SSDs, designed to deliver next-generation performance for demanding users. These PCIe 5.0 drives boast blistering speeds and improved power efficiency, making them ideal for everything from gaming and content creation to AI applications.

The 9100 Pro series leverages its PCIe 5.0 x4 interface to achieve sequential read/write speeds of up to 14,800 / 13,400MB/s, a significant leap over its predecessor. Random read/write speeds also significantly boost, reaching up to 2,200K/2,600K IOPS, ensuring rapid access to large files and applications.

Power efficiency is another key focus. Thanks to its 5nm controller, the 9100 Pro series consumes less power than previous models. The 9100 Pro with Heatsink promises to take this a step further, adding an extra layer of thermal management for even lower power consumption and improved drive longevity while maintaining a slim profile of just 0.9 cm. Capacity is also a highlight, with the 9100 Pro being Samsung's first NVMe SSD to offer up to 8TB of storage, providing ample space for even the most demanding workloads.

Samsung's Magician Software further enhances the user experience, providing tools for drive optimisation, data protection, and firmware updates, ensuring your drive remains in peak condition. The 9100 Pro series will be available in March with 1TB ($199.99), 2TB ($299.99), and 4TB ($549.99) capacities. The 9100 Pro with Heatsink will be offered in 1TB ($219.99), 2TB ($319.99), and 4TB ($569.99) options. The 8TB variants are expected to arrive later in 2025.
