Seagate launches its fastest SSD to date – the FireCuda 530

Today, Seagate is launching its fastest PC gaming SSD to date – the FireCuda 530. The new SSD benefits from a new controller, enabling even faster speeds over PCIe 4.0, capacities are also taking a jump, with this drive being available with up to 4TB.

The FireCuda 530 sports a Seagate-validated E18 controller and the latest 3D TLC NAND, so not only will you get fast read/write speeds of up to 7,300MB/s and 6,900MB/s respectively, but you'll get long lasting endurance. According to Seagate, this SSD is capable of up to 5100 TBW (Terabytes Written), this means you could write and delete 70 percent of the drive's capacity every day for 5 years before running into failure issues.

Seagate has also worked with EKWB on this SSD, collaborating on a minimalistic heatsink option that swaps out cooling fins for a high-grade aluminium block with a textured finish to maximise cooling.

Speaking on the announcement, Seagate's Senior VP of marketing, Jeff Fochtman, said: “This is Seagate’s fastest and most powerful gaming SSD and we’re showcasing it at our first-ever virtual gaming event to put a stake in the ground. From the FireCuda 530, to our lineup of partners and guests at SG21, we’re here to take it all to the next level.”

The Seagate FireCuda 530 SSD will be available in 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB options, with prices starting at $140. The SSD comes bundled with a three-year Rescue Data Recovery Service plan and a five-year limited warranty.
