Samsung X5 1TB Review

In our read throughput test the Samsung X5 peaked at 2,218.11MB/s at the 4MB block size before dropping back to 2,149.07MB/s at the end of the test.  There's no doubting that the X5 is a fast drive, its read performance is even slightly faster than the Netstor NA611TB3 with a pair of 1TB Samsung SSD 960 EVO drives installed in a RAID 0 array.

We've added the result from our throughput test on an internally mounted Samsung SSD970 EVO to give an idea of how fast the X5 is for an external drive.

When it comes to our write throughput test, the drive peaks right at the end of the test at 1,892.14MB/s. This time the difference between it and the RAID 0 SSD960 EVO equipped Netstor NA611TB3 is even greater.
