Diablo IV hits new all-time player count on Steam following latest Expansion

Diablo IV has been a bit of a mixed bag. While the game launched to strong sales and solid reviews, early updates to the title were met with a great deal of backlash. Fortunately, since then the team at Blizzard have righted the ship, with balance changes, new classes and more helping to bring players back. Now, with the release of their latest ‘Lord of Hatred’ expansion, Diablo IV has managed to break its previous concurrent player record on Steam.

With a peak count of 64,518 players on Steam, Diablo IV has officially surpassed its previous CCU of 55k (reached back in late 2024 during the launch of its Vessel of Hatred expansion).

Additionally, this represents more than double the peak player counts achieved during the game’s Steam launch, in which it managed a relatively low high of 28k.

Diablo Expansion

Of course, Diablo IV was not a day-one addition to Steam, arriving months after its Battle net debut, and so the total number of PC players is likely far higher than the Steam figures suggest.

Regardless, while the game may not have had the smoothest of first years, Blizzard’s decade-long plan for Diablo IV seems to be beginning to pay off. It will be interesting to see how the game evolves from here.
