Epic Games Store shows off its achievement system

Though it has been years in the making, the Epic Games Store appears to be nearly ready to release its achievements system for its storefront. Announced as far back as 2018, before the store even launched, the Fortnite developer is slowly but surely adding long-promised features to its store – with achievements seemingly next in line.

Prior to the launch of the Epic Games Store in December 2018, the Unreal Engine creator detailed some of the features it had hoped to bring to the storefront – one of which was an achievements system. More than two and a half years later, it has yet to be fully implemented, though Epic Games have now shown off what the achievements page and UI will look like.

Sharing these images on the team’s road map Trello, the achievements system set to be implemented appears to take inspiration from both Xbox and PlayStation. While each achievement has a set level of XP associated with it, they are also stylised as trophies – even going so far as to include a Platinum trophy equivalent. Users will seemingly also be able to track the progress within achievements, allowing for users to see just how close they are to completing each achievement.

Alongside this, they also showed off a new profile page, which looks to include total hours played, number of achievements earned, and other gameplay stats. On top of this, each profile looks to have a level attributed to it – seemingly based on how many achievements they have earned.

While nothing revolutionary, the Epic Games Store’s new profile and achievements system looks to be solidly implemented and easy to navigate. Now we just have to wait to see when it is officially released.
