Microsoft Flight Simulator is undoubtedly an ambitious game, attempting to map the entire world in such detail that which hasn’t been seen before in another title. With the game finally launching and review embargoes lifted, it appears as though Microsoft and Asobo Studio have pulled it off, as the game has achieved the highest critical rating of any PC title in 2020.
With a Metacritic score of 93, Microsoft Flight Simulator has achieved universal critical acclaim, becoming the highest rated PC game of 2020 – tied only with Half-Life: Alyx. Furthermore, the game has beaten Flight Simulator 2002 to become the highest rated game in the series.
Microsoft Flight Simulator was developed by Asobo Studio, who are known best for having created 2019’s award-winning ‘A Plague Tale: Innocence’, as well as The Crew 2 – both of which featured impressive graphical fidelity.
While Microsoft Flight Simulator is available from today on PC, the game has also been confirmed to be coming to the Xbox One, though there is currently no release date announced. With this being the first game in the series coming to console, it’ll be interesting to see how various aspects of the game, such as the controls, are translated.
Either way, Microsoft Flight Simulator for PC appears to be off to a great start. With the game finally releasing to the public, it’ll be interesting to see whether fans will mirror the sentiments of the critics.
