Steam beta update brings revamped Store menus and much more

Over the past couple of years, Valve has put a particular amount of focus on improving Steam across the board – from library sharing revamps to visual tweaks and much more. In alignment with this, those on Steam’s beta channel can now check out the brand new ‘Store Menu’.

Taking to their blog to detail this latest beta, Valve announced and unveiled their brand new redesigned ‘Store Menu’ – meaning the tabs at the top and side of the store page.

Alongside the rather slick visual upgrade, this new menu comes with a number of functional Quality of Life improvements, including:

  • Combined left column and blue bar for greater cohesion and reduce redundancy
  • New browse tab for added discoverability
  • Reorganised Recommendations page/tab
  • Personalised categories tab
  • Search bar can now be accessed in more places

Speaking of the search bar, trying to find exactly what you’re looking for should become much simpler thanks to a revamp of how the system works – now adding;

  • Popular searches
  • Recently viewed
  • Categories/tags
  • Publishers
  • New filters

All in all, this seems to be a rather welcome addition. That said, it may take some time for users to get used to all this reorganisation. It will be interesting to see whether any further alterations are made between now and the public release.
