Atari VCS console to finally begin shipping in October

After plenty of delays, the Atari VCS console is finally ready to begin shipping. The crowdfunded retro-inspired console began development back in 2017 and while there have been complications along the way, backers will start getting the console later this year.

Atari announced that backers will begin getting their VCS consoles in October 2020, with the company aiming to fulfil all backer orders by December 24th 2020.

As a reminder, the Atari VCS is powered by an AMD Ryzen Embedded SoC and 8GB of DDR4 RAM, it also has 32GB of internal memory and runs a custom version of Linux. Atari is also releasing a ‘Classic Joystick' to go with the console.

As interesting as a modern retro console might be, this system does have a hefty asking price, coming in at $390.
