Nintendo may finally reveal the NX this week

When it comes to Nintendo NX news, things have been quite slow over the last couple of months and while rumours are still predicting that the console will launch before March 2017, Nintendo itself is really dragging its feet with official announcements. However, Nintendo may finally break its silence on the subject this month, with reports suggesting that official NX news could be coming in just a matter of days.

According to analyst firm, Macquarie Group, Nintendo's official reveal for the NX should take place this week, ahead of the company's next quarterly investor meeting, which is scheduled in for the 26th of October.

One of the big factors that will affect Nintendo NX sales will be pricing. Previously, UK retailers have suggested that the console would need to launch at £200 or less to compete with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. However, according to Macquarie's estimations, the console may end up launching at the $300-$350 mark.

This price point could end up being a sore point given that the console isn't supposed to be as powerful as the PS4, or even the PS4 Pro, which is coming in November. Aside from that, Xbox One S and PS4 Slim bundles are starting to go for less than £200 at some retailers, which will make competition pretty tough.

KitGuru Says: These are all just analyst estimates at the moment, rather than hard facts. Still though, it would be nice to see some official Nintendo NX information before the end of October.

  1. Umm you can’t get Nintendo first party titles on PS4 or Xbox. So, yeah….awful journalism.

  2. I don’t get your point. Nobody said anything about getting Nintendo first party titles on Xbox or PS4.

  3. I think his point is it doesn’t need to compete with the other consoles because people will buy it for the first party titles, not the raw power. Not that that’s a correct statement, or that it even makes for bad journalism to say that it isn’t

  4. Not really.

  5. Letd be honest
Mario Pokemon zelda ect are the only reason people buy Nintendo consoles

  6. Even if this is less powerful – it’s implied that the console is portable… a portable console capable of PS4 level graphics (hell even wiiU level graphics) is a significant jump in the portable console market and is certainly worth the price tag.

  7. No it isn’t. A top end phone is on par with the WiiU and within 18-36 months they will be closing in on the PS4. Seeing that everyone has a smartphone nowadays the portable gaming market is dead for console manufacturers.

  8. And when Nintendo moved to that marketing strategy their sales fell through the floor for most of their consoles. Only the Wii sold well and that was due to the controllers, not the games.
