Pre-orders for God of War: Laufey officially live as new gameplay details revealed

After years of leaks, rumours and speculation, Sony Santa Monica’s next game is finally mere months away, with God of War: Laufey officially launching for PS5 in February of next year. Representing one of the final first-party PlayStation titles to be getting a physical disc release, pre-orders for God of War Laufey have now gone live.

Taking to the PlayStation Blog, Sony Santa Monica officially detailed the various editions of God of War: Laufey which are now up for pre-order, while also giving another look at the game’s impressive combat.

Regardless of whether you opt for a digital or physical version, all those who pre-order the game will be privy to a number of digital bonuses, namely:

• Last Wish armour set
• Phranque (The Cube) Golden Leaves cosmetic appearance
• In-Game resource pack

For better or for worse, there does not appear to be a physical collector’s edition, with the only other variant on offer being the Digital Deluxe Edition; which includes the following:

• Dark Alchemy Armor Set
• Dark Alchemy Blade
• Dark Alchemy Bow Scales
• Dark Alchemy Catalyst
• In-Game Resource Pack
• Digital Mini Artbook
• Official Digital Soundtrack

Far more exciting however are the new snippets of gameplay, giving us a look at Faye’s fast and acrobatic bow combat – looking very much like Devil May Cry or Marvel’s Spider-Man with the amount you are able to combo your moves to juggle enemies in the air. 2018’s God of War and Ragnarok both featured incredibly satisfying and meaty combat systems. While Laufey is certainly taking a different approach, it looks just as if not more smooth, slick and satisfying.
