Atari’s 50th anniversary box set includes 10 classic games for $1000

Atari is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and while the company isn't as big a name in gaming nowadays, many still have fond memories of gaming on classic Atari systems. To commemorate the anniversary, Atari has put together a limited-run box set, including 10 classic Atari 2600 games in special packaging. The set's $1000 price tag indicates it is aimed at serious collectors.

If you collected all 10 Atari 2600 games featured in the Atari XP 50th Anniversary collection, buying the $1000 box set doesn't make much sense. However, if you don't have these games and have been looking, this may be your best chance.

Limited to 100 units, the Atari 50th anniversary box set includes ten games: Adventure, Missile Command, Warlords, Super Breakout, Crystal Castles, Haunted House, Yars' Revenge, Centipede, Asteroids, Gravitar. Each of these comes with a cartridge (works with original Atari 2600 consoles) sealed in a custom-made box, a cardstock poster, an extended instructional manual, a hard enamel pin, a polyester blend, a twill-woven embroidered patch, a certificate of authenticity and a digital copy of the game for the Atari VCS.

You can now pre-order the Atari XP 50th Anniversary collection for $999.99 on Atari's official website.

KitGuru says: Considering this box set is limited to 100 units, it will likely sell out quickly even with the high price tag.
