Star Citizen’s PC requirements have been updated for the Alpha

Star Citizen is miraculously heading into Alpha, which means the game's PC system requirements have been updated. The game's PC requirements have evolved considerably over the years, after all, the game did start development a over decade ago. With that in mind, we would expect the requirements to change again in the future.

To run Star Citizen, your PC must be able to execute AVX instructions. You cannot launch the game if your CPU does not meet this requirement. At the very minimum, PC players will need an Intel Core i7 quad-core CPU or an AMD Bulldozer quad-core CPU. In terms of GPUs, you'll need a GPU with a minimum of 4GB of VRAM and a driver that supports Vulkan 1.2, like an Nvidia GTX 1060, an AMD RX 5700, RX Vega 56, RX 460, or an Intel A380.

You'll also need 16GB of memory and over 100GB of SSD storage (HDD will also work but with a loss of performance). The game will only run on Windows 10 or later.

Cloud Imperium suggests using a Quad/Eight-core Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor paired with 32GB of RAM for optimal performance. However, they have not provided specific recommendations for GPUs, only stating that a DirectX 12 compatible graphics card with 8GB VRAM is required. Storage requirements are the same.

KitGuru says: For how it looks, the minimum requirements for Star Citizen look accessible. On the other hand, the recommended requirements are vague, suggesting that even a Core i7-6700 or a Ryzen 5 1600 would be enough.
