Assassin’s Creed Unity patch to abandon companion app

Ubisoft has gone ahead and released the fifth Assassin's Creed Unity patch, several months after the title's initial launch. Now those who still aren't done with the game can play with all of the chests unlocked, removing the need to play the companion app.

The patch has already hit the Xbox One and PlayStaton 4, the PC version of the patch should arrive this week on an unspecified date. The PC version specifically should bring even more performance and stability fixes, which the game surprisingly enough still needs.

The new chests, which weren't accessible in-game before without playing the companion app, will contain new costumes and in-game cash. You will also be able to get your hands on new equipment and a custom outfit of Altair from the original Assassin's Creed game.

The Assassin's Creed Initiates web service is still offline, following major connection problems and failure to properly track game progress. There is no word on when this feature will come back or even if it will. You can read what Ubisoft had to say on its blog, HERE.

KitGuru Says: If any of you have yet to play Assassin's Creed Unity then this might be good news for you. Unfortunately, the game still doesn't run particularly well on neither consoles or PC. If you can get past the performance problems then you may enjoy it.
