Dead Cells studio reportedly working on a rogue-like Prince of Persia game

Evil Empire, the small studio mostly known for its work on Dead Cells, might be quietly working away on a new Prince of Persia game. We've already seen the studio tackle a licensed IP to great success with the Dead Cells Castlevania DLC, but Prince of Persia might be getting its own full game.

According to sources speaking with Insider Gaming, Evil Empire is working on a rogue-like version of a Prince of Persia game. The franchise returned back to the limelight earlier this year with a new 2D-platforming title. It seems likely that this new ‘Rogue Prince of Persia' game will release before the long-delayed Sands of Time remake that Ubisoft has been working on for years.

Apparently, the deal between the Dead Cells studio and Ubisoft was forged in 2019. Like Dead Cells, this rogue-like Prince of Persia game will also launch first in Early Access, allowing early Steam buyers to provide feedback while the developers continue to work on updates.

There is no word on an exact release date, but this game is expected to launch into Early Access later this year.

KitGuru Says: I've been playing a lot of Hades and Dead Cells recently, so this game could not come at a better time. Given Prince of Persia's origins as a platformer, a rogue-like game would be very fitting.
