God of War: Ragnarök gets huge New Game+ update with bonus content

Sony Santa Monica found itself on top of the gaming world once again last year with the release of God of War: Ragnarok. The game has already won numerous awards in its base form but the latest update improves the game even further, adding additional content and a New Game+ mode.

Today, a new patch for God of War: Ragnarok is rolling out, offering a New Game+ mode. In New Game+ players will have an increased level cap, access to some new equipment sets and other enhancements, including a wider range of gameplay options right from the start of the game.

All of your equipment, weapons and skills carry over to New Game+, granting access to a powerful arsenal right from the opening minutes of the game. New Game+ also introduces extra endgame bosses.

Alongside New Game+, new content has been added. There are five new gear sets, including Zeus Armor, Ares Armor, Spartan Armor and Armor of the Black Bear, which includes Kratos's cloak from the beginning of the game. Sony has also added 13 additional colour combinations for existing armor sets, so you can customise your look further.

In the in-game shop, you'll have access to new armor perks to make you more powerful, as well as Burdens, an anti-perk that can help you ramp up the difficulty of the game for some additional challenge. The other big addition is an expanded Niflheim Arena, so you can test your might against difficult enemies, with any of the game's companion characters fighting alongside you, including Atreus, Freya, Brok, Sindri, Angrboda, Ingrid, Thor and Thrud.

These are just some of the highlights from the update. The PlayStation Blog has a full breakdown of the new features, many of which are tied to New Game+, so you'll need to have finished the game once already to get access to some of this stuff.
