InXile’s next-gen RPG will use Unreal Engine 5

InXile has had plenty of success over the years with Wasteland and The Bards Tale, but the studio is already looking towards its next chapter. At the moment, the team is hard at work wrapping up Wasteland 3 but after that, something even bigger has been teased.

Following on from Wasteland 3, InXile Entertainment will begin working on a next-gen RPG for Xbox Series X and of course, PC.

Interestingly, the next-gen project will be based on Unreal Engine 5, which Epic Games announced just earlier this month. The engine will be in beta for a chunk of time, before getting a finalised release in 2021.

KitGuru Says: While inXile has certainly put a good level of polish into its games, there have always been strict budget restraints. Those restrictions can now be lifted thanks to the Microsoft acquisition, so it will be very interesting to see what the studio cooks up in the years to come.
