Left 4 Dead 2 is getting a surprise update this year

We might not be getting a Left 4 Dead 3 any time soon, but that doesn't mean that Valve is done with older games in the series. This week, Valve announced ‘The Last Stand', a new update for Left 4 Dead 2, coming over a decade after the game originally released.

This isn't content created directly by Valve, but rather community content that is now getting the greenlight to become part of the official game. A teaser for the update can be found below:

Here is the official description for the update, as per the Steam Community announcement post: “It has been many years since the infection first hit. Radio silence, no sign of life, nothing but lingering hopes… CEDA is not going to save us. But there is hope! A few brave souls have continued the fight against all odds, and soon we can all benefit from their resilience.”

A release date has not been announced yet but this should arrive before the end of the year. Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Valve often gives an official stamp of approval on community made content, although this is still an interesting case given just how long Left 4 Dead has been dormant. Are any of you interested in returning to Left 4 Dead 2 when The Last Stand drops?
