Multiplay’s Insomnia festival is moving to Ricoh Arena

The UK's biggest gaming festival is getting bigger next year as Insomnia festival will take place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, instead of the traditional Telford International. The first Insomnia event to take over the arena will be held over the Easter bank holiday weekend- Friday the 18th of April to Monday the 21st of April 2014.

Thousands of UK gamers attend the Insomnia events to compete in and watch the UK's competitive eSports tournaments, try out some upcoming games and play around with cool peripherals.

Craig Fletcher, chief executive officer of Multiplay, said: “At Multiplay, we’re always looking to grow our business, and choosing a location that gives the Insomnia festivals strategic growth opportunities is of paramount importance to us, as well as our loyal community that attend our events.”

Another highlight is a return to the Easter bank holiday weekend date which hasn't been secured since Insomnia 42:

“It’s incredibly exciting to be able to hold an Easter weekend extravaganza full of new content and awesome activities,” Fletcher said. “We’re really pleased with the commitment and drive shown in bringing the UK’s largest gaming festivals to Coventry, and it’s a partnership we’re excited to move forward with in 2014.”

If you guys want to know what all of the fuss is about, KG's Jon Martindale was at the I50 event over the weekend and gave us a run down of what was on and wrote a bit about the opening ceremony. The event also gave him another chance to play with the Oculus Rift causing him to take the plunge and buy one of the developer editions.

KitGuru Says: It'll be cool to see what they can do next year with the bigger venue. Have any of you guys been to any gaming events this year?
