Back in February, a rumour popped up claiming that Nexon was working on a licensed StarCraft game. At the time, a report claimed that the game had begun development in 2025, following a licensing agreement with Blizzard. Now, a very similar rumour has popped up again months later.
While previously it was Korean outlet Dnews that reported a Nexon StarCraft project, this time the news is coming via Chosun, another South Korean news outlet. According to this new report, an agreement between Nexon and Blizzard is “on the verge of being finalised”.
It is believed that Blizzard itself also has a new StarCraft game in development as well, a revival of the StarCraft shooter concept. There does appear to be some buzz around the idea of StarCraft news being announced at BlizzCon this year as well.
BlizzCon this year is set to take place from September 12th to September 13th, so we're expecting a few big game updates around that time, focused on World of Warcraft, Diablo and Overwatch.
KitGuru Says: It sounds like if there is a StarCraft project in development, it is still early and is unlikely to be immediately announced.
