Obsidian’s ‘Grounded’ is getting an animated series

Grounded wasn't the game many Obsidian fans were looking for when it was first announced, but the survival game has come a long way in Early Access and has impressed many during that time. Grounded is finally set to fully launch in September, but the main game won't be the only way to experience the backyard, as an animated series is also on the way.

As reported by Deadline this week, Grounded is getting its own animated series, helmed by Brent Friedman, who previously worked on Star Wars Rebels, The Clone Wars and other shows. Companies like Waterproof Studios, SC Productions, Kinetic Media and Bardel Entertainment are also attached to the project in some form.

Just like the game, the series will star four friends who have found themselves shrunken down to the size of a small bug. Together, the group must survive the dangers of the backyard, all while unravelling the mystery behind the shrinking technology.

There is no cast yet, nor a release window or even a network. Presumably, one of the major streaming services will end up nabbing the rights to this, but for now, we don't really know when or where we'll be able to watch it.

KitGuru Says: Grounded is one of the games I'm most looking forward to this year. I played the first story chapter in early access at launch and it hooked me. It would seem some folks over in Hollywood ended up hooked too.
