Rare’s cancelled GoldenEye 007 remaster playable build leaks

Late last week, Rare's cancelled GoldenEye 007 remaster resurfaced online, with one YouTuber putting up a full playthrough of the game. Given that the build is content complete and fully playable, it was only a matter of time before it leaked onto the wider web. Last night, the game became widely available.

Rare was working on this GoldenEye 007 remaster back in 2007 for the Xbox 360. It was ultimately cancelled due to licensing issues and eventually, Activision managed to publish a remaster of its own. Of course, Rare is the original studio behind GoldenEye 007, so there has been fan interest floating around the cancelled remaster for quite sometime now.

We can't link directly to the leaked build of the game, but it is now available to download from various places and not just being passed around in private Discord circles.

Of course, the game was built for Xbox Live Arcade on the Xbox 360, so you will need the Xenia emulator to run the ROM. You won't be able to access online multiplayer, but you will be able to check out the fully remastered campaign.

KitGuru Says: We've had a couple of interesting cancelled game leaks lately, with the previous one being a cancelled Tomb Raider remake for the PSP. Are there any cancelled games from years past that you would like to see recovered?
