Star Wars: Dark Forces remaster release date announced

Nightdive has been working away on classic PC games for a while now, having shipped remasters for games like System Shock, Turok 1 & 2, and providing development for the recent re-releases of Quake and Doom 64. At Gamescom this year, the studio unveiled another new remaster, this time focusing on Star Wars: Dark Forces. Now just a few months later, we now have a release date.

Star Wars: Dark Forces originally released in 1995 and is best known for kicking off the classic Star Wars Jedi series of games. The game features the debut of Kyle Katarn, who returns in titles Star Wars: Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast, both of which were remastered and re-released for modern platforms in recent years.

The Dark Forces remaster will be arriving on the 28th of February, bringing this old classic to modern systems including PC, Xbox, PlayStation and the Nintendo Switch.

Dark Forces did get its own sequel and an expansion known as Mysteries of the Sith. Remasters for these games have not yet been announced but assuming this one does well, the rest of the series should follow.

Aside from Dark Forces, Nightdive is also working on a System Shock 2 remaster and a Turok 3 remaster.

KitGuru Says: Dark Forces is a game that has been sat in my Steam library for years but I never got around to playing it. However, having recently played Jedi Outcast on my Switch, I think I'll finally pick Dark Forces up again. Will any of you be grabbing this next year?
