Star Wars Eclipse is still ‘years away’ from completion

Star Wars Eclipse was first announced in 2021 but very little new information has come out about the game since. As it turns out, the reason for that is simple – development has been moving very slowly, with the game still projected to be ‘years away'.

It has been almost five years since Star Wars Eclipse was announced. Typically, a modern AAA game can take five to seven years to develop on average, so the game should be pretty far along at this stage. Unfortunately, according to Insider Gaming, that is not the case, with a source claiming that the studio has been making “very little progress over months”.

It is also claimed that at this point, even years on from the game's reveal, it is still “years off from completion”. In the interim, Quantic Dream has also branched out to take on other projects, including its first multiplayer game, Spellcasters Chronicles, which is now available in Early Access form.

Star Wars Eclipse is supposed to be part of Disney's push towards the High Republic era of Star Wars, which we also got a glimpse of in Star Wars Jedi Survivor. Like most single-player Quantic Dream titles, Star Wars Eclipse is supposed to be a choice-driven game, with many different story outcomes spread out over a branching narrative.

KitGuru Says: If you've been looking forward to Star Wars Eclipse, it sounds like you'll be left waiting for quite a while longer. At this point, we may have to start taking bets on whether or not this makes it out before Casey Hudson's newly announced Star Wars Old Republic game.
