The Xbox 360 and PS3 won’t be getting the Black Ops 3 campaign

Most people play Call of Duty for the multiplayer these days, but there are some people out there that still enjoy the campaigns, particularly in the Black Ops series. Unfortunately, if you are still playing on a last generation console, you won't be getting that campaign if you buy Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 this year.

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Black Ops 3 will only contain the multiplayer modes and Zombies. Those wanting to play the campaign will need to switch to the PC, Xbox One or PlayStation 4.

The announcement offers a small explanation as to why this has happened: “The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware”.

Aside from the campaign though, last generation console gamers will have access to all of the same multiplayer and Zombie content as the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Right now there is no word on pricing changes for the last generation version of Black Ops 3, as it stands right now, the old gen version with less content costs the same as the current gen variant of the game containing the campaign, as far as we can tell from Amazon.

KitGuru Says: The Xbox 360 and PS3 are both on the way out. Come next year, I'd be surprised if many annual releases continued to pop up on the console without serious limitations. Given that the old gen version of Black Ops 3 ships with less content, it might be a good idea for Activision to lower the price.
