Ubisoft launches custom quest creator for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Ubisoft isn’t exactly known for adding mod support to its games but that might start to change. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is continuing to get free updates and the latest is a ‘Story Creator’, allowing players to create their own custom quests in-game, set their own conditions/rewards and share them with other players.

Now that Assassin’s Creed has made the jump into RPG territory, giving players tools like this can really expand the game and its lifespan. Player-created quests have been huge for RPGs in the past and depending on the amount of freedom given, they can rival full-on expansions.

The Story Creator comes with a massive 157-page manual and is based on the tools Ubisoft used internally to create quests for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, so we are looking forward to seeing what people come up with in the weeks and months to come.

Some custom quests are already online, although many of them are simple farming quests used to shortcut Odyssey’s XP system and award higher amounts of gold compared to what traditional quests would give. Ubisoft does sell XP and gold packs as part of its microtransaction store but we hope that the publisher just leaves things in the hands of the community as eventually, more impressive quests will start to pop up and they will rise to the top of the pile.

KitGuru Says: Releasing a custom quest creator for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey seems like a great idea and is not something I expected from Ubisoft. I would love more games in the future to include something like this.
