GTA VI teaser becomes most liked gaming Tweet ever

Following leaks, rumours and a statement from the studio itself, Rockstar Games confirmed that Grand Theft Auto IV would be getting its first official trailer this December. Unsurprisingly, the announcement teaser for this upcoming trailer has garnered a massive amount of interest and excitement, becoming the most-liked gaming Tweet of all time.

Back in November, Rockstar Games President Sam Houser released a statement to Twitter announcing the impending GTA VI trailer, saying “We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you.”

The mere mention of GTA VI in an official capacity sent shockwaves online, with the Tweet becoming the most liked gaming-related Twitter post of all time, amassing over 1.6 million likes.

Since then, the studio has posted another teaser for GTA VI, featuring an exact date and time for the announcement trailer (Tuesday the 5th of December at 9AM ET). This has now become the most-liked gaming Tweet of all time, seeing over 1.9 million likes as of the time of writing.

Additionally, the same announcement was shared to a variety of platforms, with the Instagram photo seeing more than 5.6 million likes and a Facebook post amassing over half a million reactions so far.

Since its release a decade ago, GTA V has become the second best-selling game of all time with over 190 million copies sold. It is therefore unsurprising to see just how wide-reaching interest is for the long-awaited GTA VI. It’ll be interesting to see how many views the trailer ends up getting in its first 24 hours.
