Yevgeny (Eugene) Kaspersky, Kaspersky Lab co founder was apparently facing the news that his 20 year old son Ivan Kaspersky had been kidnapped in the north west part of Moscow this week, while on his way to work.

According to local reports, law enforcement had been searching for Ivan for the last 72 hours. The same day he was apparently taken, Lifenews reported that kidnappers have contacted his father to demand a ransom of 3 million Euros. Shortly after the call Eugene returned to Moscow, from London.

The company were Ivan works, InfoWatch told papers that he was taken right outside the offices. Local police and Secret Service were meant to be following leads.

Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported on a few possibilities after speaking with authorities, including using Ivan as leverage in exchange for technological information. Moreover, the paper speculated that the kidnapping was orchestrated by rivals to damage Eugene Kaspersky’s business, or perhaps ex-business partners and investors.

Today, in a bizarre turn of events, Yevgeny Kaspersky asked Russian Media to ‘stop speculation' about his sons kidnapping. “Kaspersky Lab calls on the media to stop spreading rumors and speculation about the events related to the family members of Yevgeny Kaspersky,” the firm said in a statement. “Yevgeny Kaspersky is working normally, but he commented that the information being circulated is harmful for the company.”
