AMD reportedly expanding the Ryzen 5000 series with four new SKUs

New rumours from two different sources claim that AMD is developing a Ryzen 7 5800 CPU and a Ryzen 9 5900 CPU for the desktop market, and a Ryzen 5 5600G APU and a Ryzen 7 5700G APU to be used by OEMs. Despite being from the same series of Ryzen products, each pair of SKUs would be using a different architecture.

The report regarding the Vermeer processors, the Ryzen 7 5800 and the Ryzen 9 5900, comes from @momomo_us, while the information about the upcoming Cezanne APUs is from @patrickschur.

Powered by Zen3 architecture, the 8C/16T Ryzen 7 5800 and the 12C/24T Ryzen 9 5900 will reportedly come with a 65W TDP, quite a bit lower than their “X” counterparts. Unfortunately, base and boost clocks were not shared by the leaker, but they should be slightly lower than the current Ryzen 5000 SKUs.

Replacing the AMD Ryzen 4000G APUs, the Cezanne-based Ryzen 5 5600G and Ryzen 7 5700G APUs would also be based on the Zen3 architecture and feature a 65W TDP.

AMD should introduce the first Cezanne APUs (mobile) at its presentation on CES 2021, scheduled for January 11-14, 2021.

KitGuru says: Will you be waiting for the new Ryzen 5000 processors before upgrading your system? Would you like to see the Cezanne APUs being sold directly to consumers instead of being an OEM-only product?
