Sony shares new details on Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Yotei

Ghost of Yotei is one of PlayStation big first-party titles planned to release in 2025. Though we have yet to get anything more than the initial teaser trailer, an update to its PlayStation Store listing has now offered a couple of new and interesting details on Sucker Punch Productions' upcoming sequel.

As discovered by ResetEra user ‘nolifebr’ Sony recently updated their PlayStation Store with a listing for Sucker Punch Productions’ upcoming Ghost of Tsushima sequel Ghost of Yotei.

Though light on specifics, the team did offer some new details on the world of Yotei and their approach to developing this game, writing:

“Featuring massive sightlines that let you look far across the environment, skies of twinkling stars and auroras, and vegetation that sways believably in the wind, Ghost of Yōtei has been built from the ground up for PlayStation 5 consoles, with enhanced performance and visuals on PlayStation 5 Pro.”

It continues, “Alongside its stunning new setting, Ghost of Yōtei also features new mechanics, gameplay improvements, and even new weapons for Atsu to master, including ōdachi, kusarigama, and dual katanas.”

Though a number of these details could be inferred from the initial teaser trailer, it is welcome to have such inferences confirmed straight from the horse’s mouth.

The plot synopsis reads as follows: “300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima, a new warrior – Atsu – rises from the ashes of her homestead. Filled with fury and determination, Atsu will hunt down those responsible for the death of her family and exact her revenge. Every odd job and bounty will provide the coin she needs for her journey. But how she fights, survives, and evolves the legend of the Ghost, will be up to you.”

Given how the game is still planned to launch in 2025, we will likely begin to hear an increasing number of details regarding Ghost of Yotei over the coming months. Perhaps during the next State of Play? We will have to wait and see.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
