The Legend of Zelda film will in fact be an entire trilogy, claims insider

Following an official announcement quite a while ago, Nintendo finally offered fans their first details on the currently-in-development Legend of Zelda film. Said to be coming in 2027, new reports have claimed that the company’s ambitions are much larger than expected – with an entire Zelda trilogy reportedly in the works.

As reported by known film industry insider DanielRPK (paywalled) and collated by VGC, the upcoming Legend of Zelda film is said to be just the first part of a planned trilogy, with the films seemingly set to all release within 6 years.

If true, this could mean that Nintendo’s plans for the Zelda film are far more expansive than initially thought.

Zelda Trilogy

Though this is mere conjecture, having a trilogy to work around means that the narrative, pacing and more could all be especially created to work over the span of multiple films – making for a much more epic feeling overall (not too dissimilar to The Lord of The Rings Trilogy).

Nintendo has so far found great success with their film adaptations, with both Detective Pikachu but especially The Super Mario Bros film becoming smashing box office hits.

Giving a Zelda project 3 entire films to work with could lead to a highly rated and lucrative final product. Hopefully the adaptation is treated with as much care as the franchise it’s based off of.
