Age of Mythology: Extended Edition gets extended features

Age of Mythology (AoM), while not quite as well remembered as Age of Empires, is one of the PC's classic RTS titles, and like Empires, it's getting a re-release on Steam. However, as well as being updated for modern PC compatibility, it's also getting a few tweaks to make it look and play that bit better.

When buying the Extended Edition of AoM, you'll get the original game, plus its major expansion, The Titans and a bunch of added features. These include improved visuals, like times of day light changes, better looking water, support for higher resolutions and native widescreen HD support. Other little visual aids like anti-aliasing, ambient occlusion and global lighting have also been added, along with better shadows and bump maps. There's also complete Steamworks integration, making modding easier, adding trading cards and cloud saves, as well as of course, handling multiplayer in a manner that makes it easier than ever. Twitch has even been integrated, so you can show off your most epic victories.

Fans of the game will be able to pre-purchase on Steam sometime in April, with the planned release taking place in early May.
