Riot Games has cemented a position in the competitive shooter world with Valorant, directed by Joe Ziegler. Now, Ziegler will be moving on to a new challenge, leaving Riot behind and joining Bungie.
In an announcement this week, Ziegler revealed that he is now working at Bungie on “new stuff”. This doesn't necessarily sound like it is Destiny related and Bungie does have multiple other projects in the works. Alongside Destiny, Bungie is also working on a game called ‘Matter', in partnership with NetEase.
Beyond that, recent rumours have indicated that Bungie is working on a new ‘Marathon' game. For those who don't know, Marathon was a 90s Sci-Fi FPS game, released well before Halo. According to reports, the IP is now being revived as an ‘extraction' shooter with 3-player squads.
Bungie was acquired by Sony earlier this year, but its current and future titles will continue to be multiplatform.
KitGuru Says: Do you think this hire is related to Bungie's apparent plan to revive Marathon as a multiplayer shooter?
