Honkai Star Rail surpasses 100 million downloads in 10 months

Genshin Impact put studio MiHoYo (now known as HoYoverse) on the map, with the open-world free-to-play Zelda-like title raking in over $4 Billion since its launch in late 2020. Since then, the team have released Honaki Star Rail – which while it performed well ahead of launch, has not been able to hit the highs of Genshin. That said, Honkai Star Rail has managed to surpass 100 million downloads in less than a year.

As reported by Gematsu, the Honkai Star Rail team ‘HoYoverse’ revealed that the free-to-play turn-based sci-fi RPG Honkai Star Rail has surpassed 100 million downloads since its launch on PC and mobile in late April of last year – and its subsequent PS5 release in October.

Sharing this latest achievement, the team said “We are thrilled to announce that Honkai: Star Rail has reached a remarkable milestone, surpassing 100 million downloads across all platforms! We appreciate the amazing support from players all over the world ever since the game officially released on April 26, 2023.”

For context, ahead of its launch, the game amassed an impressive 10 million pre-registrations, with Honkai Star Rail then going on to surpass 20 million downloads in less than a week.

We have not had any concrete figures since then, and so it is both surprising and encouraging to see that the team at HoYoverse have been able to strike lightning twice – first with Genshin Impact and now with Honkai Star Rail. Hopefully this bodes well for the team’s next title: Zenless Zone Zero.

KitGuru says: What do you think of HoYoverse’s output so far? Do you prefer Genshin Impact or Honkai Star Rail? Could Zenless Zone Zero also exceed 100 million downloads in less than a year? Let us know down below.
