Helldivers II surpasses 15 million players

Helldivers II was a bit of a viral hit when the live-service title launched for PS5 and PC back in February. During the recent Golden Joystick Awards – where the game won ‘Best Multiplayer’ – the team at Arrowhead revealed that Helldivers II has now reached over 15 million total players.

During their victory speech for Best Multiplayer Game at the recent Golden Joystick Awards, the team at Arrowhead Game Studios took to the podium, saying:

“Starting this project eight years ago I would have not believed being here today winning best multiplayer this year is a big thing for Arrowhead and for all super Earth.”

Helldivers II 15 million

They continued, “it's amazing bringing 15 million players together, curing loneliness, bringing everyone together. This one is for Arrowhead, I'm thinking about everyone in Stockholm right now. I love you guys, thank you.”

The last sales update we got for Helldivers II was back in May, when it was revealed that the title had reached 12 million copies sold.

With the game recently seeing a resurgence in players following a suite of major updates and additions, it will be interesting to see how the live-service title will continue to perform.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
