Blizzard looks to be hiring for a StarCraft shooter

We all remember the tragedy that was StarCraft: Ghost, Blizzard's long-cancelled shooter. However, it would seem that the dream of a StarCraft shooter is still alive and well.

Earlier this year, Jason Schreier revealed that former Far Cry lead, Dan Hay, had set up a team at Blizzard to experiment with new ideas for a StarCraft shooter. Now, Blizzard seems to have a plan in place and is actively hiring for the project.

Now, Blizzard has begun hiring for multiple job roles, calling for designers for an unannounced “open-world shooter game”. The job description does not directly name StarCraft, but given the news from earlier this year, it seems likely that this is for the StarCraft project.

Another candidate for this could have been Blizzard's survival game. However, that project was unfortunately cancelled around the time Microsoft acquired the company.

KitGuru Says: Fans have been wanting a StarCraft shooter for a long time, and as we are unlikely to see another high-budget RTS StarCraft game, moving the franchise into new genres is really the only way to keep it alive.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
