3rd-person mode is coming to Halo: Infinite next week

Last month, 343i / Halo Studios announced a surprising update coming to Halo: Infinite in November – that being a dedicated 3rd-person mode. With the update set to arrive in just a few short days, the team have now detailed exactly what fans can expect.

Making the announcement via a blog post, the team at Halo Studios said “With Operation: Great Journey coming on November 5, we wanted to celebrate this iconic milestone by bringing the Halo 2 festivities to Halo Infinite. Here are the playlists that will be available next week…”

With that, Halo: Infinite is set to get a bunch of different playlists – some being throwbacks to games of old, with others introducing surprising new mechanics.

3rd-person Halo: Infinite

The full list of changes and additions can be found HERE, including the various throwback playlists and their respective limitations (such as the Delta Arena mode’s lack of sprinting but increased jump height).

By far the most interesting addition however is the introduction of the ‘THIRD-PERSON FIREFIGHT’ playlist, coming to the following game modes:

  • Fiestafight: King of the Hill
  • Firefight: King of the Hill
  • Gruntpocalypse: King of the Hill
  • Gruntpocalypse Fiesta: King of the Hill

Additionally, players will be able to tinker with the 3rd-person mode through custom games, letting you try all aspects of Halo: Infinite in a new perspective.

Given the fact that Halo Studios have moved away from Infinite in favour of their upcoming Unreal Engine 5 project, it is interesting to see the team introducing a change as big as a 3rd-person mode so late in the game’s life cycle.

It will be interesting to see whether this feature is included in the next Halo straight from launch. Full details on the update can be found HERE.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
