AMD Navi 44 and Navi 48 RDNA 4 GPUs confirmed through ROCm update

AMD has yet to say much about its next-generation GPU plans but there have been plenty of rumours floating around. Currently, RDNA 4 is set to launch with two main GPUs – Navi 44 and Navi 48. Now, recent datamining through Linux drivers has shown exactly that.

X user Kepler_L2 has spotted both Navi 48 and Navi 44 noted in a recent update to AMD's ROCm software. According to rumours, the latter will have half the core count of the former, suggesting that the Navi 44 will power the lower end of next-generation Radeon GPUs, likely to be named RX 8500/8600.

AMD has confirmed that the GFX1200 ID is associated with Navi 44, while GFX1201 is linked to Navi 48. Only these two RDNA 4 GPUs have been featured in ROCm updates.

While AMD has not announced any official launch dates for new-gen graphics cards, we're rumoured to be getting official news later in the year.

KitGuru says: Even without a high-end offering, the Radeon RX 5000 series offered outstanding value for its price. With that in mind, focusing on mid-range and entry-level might not be a bad thing for RDNA 4.
