Splitgate devs finally tease their next game

Back in 2022, it came as a rather big shock when 1047 Games, the team behind the much-loved Splitgate, announced that they would be ceasing development on the Halo-like multiplayer FPS, stating at the time “We’re turning our attention away from iterative, smaller updates and going all-in to focus on a new game in the Splitgate universe which will present revolutionary, not evolutionary, changes to our game”. Years on from this announcement, it seems the team are ready to show off what they have been working on.

Teasing some form of announcement on their Twitter page, the official Splitgate account shared a brief video of silhouetted characters alongside the caption “In three days…You're mine.”

Based on everything we know, it seems as though the team are set to officially unveil the much-anticipated successor to Splitgate – which in many ways will be an enhanced version of the same game, though done in “a way that isn’t trying to retrofit and live operate an existing product.”

Splitgate’s unique blend of Halo-like combat with Portal-like portals made for an interesting, fun and possibly chaotic gameplay loop – all great things for a multiplayer shooter. Hopefully Splitgate’s successor is able to gain as much traction as the original.

Insider claims Call of Duty could see a massive shake-up including no more annual releases

While this has worked in the past, Black Ops 7 seems to have been a breaking point for some. According to known insiders, Microsoft is now considering a major shake-up, including a standalone Zombies game.
