Gamescom’s ONL charges $125,000 for a 30 second trailer

Earlier in the Summer, it was revealed just how much developers/publishers had to pay in order to secure a spot on Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest stage, with prices being as high as $250,000 for a single minute. Not to be outdone by his own self, Keighley’s other Summer showcase – Gamescom’s Opening Night Live – will reportedly cost almost as much.

As reported by TechRaptor, in going to Gamescom’s official booking form, prices for the upcoming Opening Night Live Showcase can be viewed – revealing some surprisingly high figures.

For ONL’s pre-show, prices are as follows (converted from Euros):

  • $62,500 – 30 seconds
  • $90,000 – 1 minute
  • $117,000 – 90 seconds
  • $144,000 – 2 minutes

As mentioned, these prices are purely for the pre-show, with the main event costing quite a bit more (converted from Euros):

  • $125,000 – 30 seconds
  • $179,000 – 1 minute
  • $233,000 – 90 seconds
  • $287,000 – 2 minutes

Of course, these events aren’t cheap to run, and with slots for the main show already being sold out, publishers are clearly willing to pay the asking price.

Regardless, it is interesting to take a peek behind the curtain and into the inner workings of this side of the video games industry.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the prices? Are they reasonable? How much do you think Keighley takes home at the end of the night? Let us know down below.
